I’m sitting in my car. The day took its toll on me, and I’m trying to catch my breath before I go home. The parking lot I find myself in is quiet. Cars fill most of the parking spots, but no one drives or walks by. I take a deep breath. In through my nose; out through my mouth. When I breathe in, I smile, and when I breathe out I count. “One.”
I do it again. “Two.” I don’t stop until I get to five, and then I look up at the sky and see beautiful strokes of red and orange brushed among the clouds.

There’s something about a sunset that’s peaceful. The picture pulls me in for a while. It reminds me that today is over, and tomorrow, another day begins. I’ll leave my stress in this parking lot, and tomorrow, I’ll wake up, ready to start again.
